Genna Delaney made the final of the Jolomo Arts & Crafts PSYBT Awards in recognition of her jewellery business – Genna Design.
Jewellery designer and silversmith Genna Delaney established her business with help from PSYBT in April 2007. Based in the Wasps artist studios in Dundee, Ms Delaney produces handcrafted award winning designs and one off pieces. Architecture is a major influence in her work which features geometric designs and the Scottish landscape inspires some of the curves and shapes of her pendants.
With over 100 of Scotland’s best creative businesses entered there was some tough competition. Genna was delighted to be included in the final seven and over the moon to win the third prize of £750. The Kranenburg Gallery where the award ceremony took place will also now be stocking her work.
After studying Jewellery Design at Cardonald College in Glasgow, Genna completed her BDes (Hons) in Jewellery & Metal Design at Dundee.
On winning the award Genna said:
“I'm so happy, I've worked so hard over the last three years and to be short-listed was an honour, never mind winning a prize. It's great for my work to be recognised by one of Scotland’s leading artists.”
Sandra Wilson, Programmer Director Jewellery & Metal Design at Duncan of Jordanstone said:
“Genna is a passionate and committed jewellery artist who has steadily built her business since leaving college in 2006. This award is well deserved and recognition of all her hard work.”
In the future, she hopes to run her own retail outlets and a workshop where she can teach jewellery making techniques.
