Gold has been sought after, traded, stolen and used as a show of wealth since the dawn of civilisation. The recently opened exhibition at Goldsmiths' Hall examines its history and influence on our culture with a diverse range of over 500 gold objects, arranged to inspire awe and curiosity. It celebrates the working and use of gold in the United Kingdom over the past 4,500 year and includes the earliest known piece of jewellery found in the British Isles, a Lunula from the Bronze Age dating back to 2,500 BC.
