Kath Libbert Jewellery GalleryFor the past thirteen years The Kath Libbert Gallery has each spring featured The Alternative Wedding Show, one of the UK's largest and most distinctive annual selling exhibitions of precious contemporary jewellery and this year the spotlight is on the Gallery’s in-house talent.

The 13th Annual Alternative Wedding Show is opening on Sunday 13 April 2014 with 'A Marriage Made in Yorkshire' at The Kath Libbert Gallery.  From 1pm onwards, four of the gallery's resident jewellers will be on hand to explore individual ideas for commissions and will each give a presentation highlighting their area of expertise.

Although The Kath Libbert Gallery will, as always, be showcasing a fabulous array of special occasion rings crafted by renowned national and international jewellers they felt it was high time to celebrate their superb home talent and so they present their own Tour de Force in the shape of four elite and highly skilled Yorkshire jewellers to inspire you with their exquisite creations: Cathy Sutherland, Sally Cox, Bex Bardon and Emily Knight.
Bex Bardon

Bex Bardon, has worked at the gallery for over 8 years and has specially created a collection using rough cut rubies and black tourmalines which though imperfect have a special beauty that she finds… ‘full of magic, alchemy, power and ancient spells'.

Sally Cox

Sally Cox has been with The Kath Libbert Gallery for three years. Sally’s silverware borrows classical elements and gives them a contemporary twist. For A Marriage Made in Yorkshire she is presenting a range of elegant silver bowls, spoons and folded boxes.

Emily Knight

Emily Knight, the gallery's newest team member was inspired by a recent visit to the ‘Masterpieces of Chinese Painting’ exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum and has created a unique collection of exquisite enamelled floral brooches embellished with 18ct yellow gold, which would make a really distinctive wedding corsage, or just a lovely brooch to wear everyday!

Cathy Sutherland

Cathy Sutherland, who has been with the gallery for two years, has crafted a delicate collection of silver and gold bridal jewellery inspired by the Calla Lily. Says Cathy,'The curved fluid shapes of my jewellery have been created through the traditional silversmithing techniques of chasing and repoussé.'

The exhibition will also feature a wide selection of work by other well known Yorkshire jewellers including Pamela Dickinson, Chris Philipson, Adele Taylor, Chris Boland, Anthony Blakeney, and Angela Knipe.

Refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon and all are very welcome!
