Now in its fourth year, Handmade in Britain is pleased to return to one of the London’s favourite venue Chelsea Old Town Hall, London for their annual showcase with some of the brightest and most innovative talent in contemporary design. This year the show runs from  27th October – 30th October. (Private view evening 27th Oct 5.00 – 9.00pm, the show is open to public from 28th – 30th Oct 2010)



Following critical and commercial acclaim, this year’s event once again is destined to set a very high standard for the Christmas craft events. Handmade in Britain has created a show where buyers and exhibitors alike are sure to be inspired by quality, originality and Eco conscious ethos behind the works for sale. All the exhibitors work locally in the UK and strive to keep their carbon footprint at its lowest by locally sourcing materials to create guilt free contemporary craft.
Around 75 selected Designer-makers will be showing their new collections from various disciplines such as Fashion design & accessories, Interiors, glass, jewellery, furniture, stationary /paper, metalwork, ceramics, furniture, sculpture, wood work, prints and etchings.
Along with other craft disciplines, this year’s show will specially focus on Contemporary
Handmade Jewellery designer-makers who use exciting combination of materials and high level of craftsmanship to create desirable pieces which are unique and evoke a sense of preciousness.
Handmade in Britain is the brain child of Designer-maker Piyush Suri and is an initiative to maintain the high standards in the British Craft sector create market opportunities for buying craft and provide a platform to designer-makers to reach new markets both in UK and internationally. Handmade in Britain also supports new designer-makers by offering part sponsorships and supports them through training workshops preparing them for the show.
“But it is not just about design, more importantly, and as the name suggests, everything on sale will have been made in Britain” Says Piyush who also aims to promote British Designer-makers in a new international market every year. Handmade in Britain is dedicated to supporting home grown talent and is about keeping important craft skills within Britain, and creating beautiful items for you to love and cherish.
